United Van Lines in Aurora, Colorado - Mover's dog pooped in our yard and we weren't the ones moving!

United moved our neighbor on December 31, 2014. Mover parked his van in front of our house, which isn't great for us, but it's understandable, because the van was long. This next action, however, was not understandable: The mover let his dog out of the cabin, and into our yard. I watched as the dog pooped. Mover did not clean it up. In our part of the country, dog owners are expected to clean up after their dog. At the minimum, this disgusting mover should have had the dog *** in our neighbor's yard! Not cleaning up after your dog is classless. The mover was United Van Lines, Mesa Systems. #427022 Truck 53.

United Van Lines - Avoid at All Cost

United employees while in uniform often congregate (just about everyday) on the street where I live. They use the company trucks for personal use - mostly shipping drugs, etc... The often deal and use drugs on the street, while in uniform. I had a couple of issues with them, often calling the police, but there wasn't much the police can do about it, since there's no property damage done to us. They also drive and park the company trucks unsafely on our street and at one time yelled profanity at me, while inside the company truck and also one time dangerously tailgating me. They often congregate on 42nd Street and this is in Omaha, NE.

You are an ***. The reason the police don't do anything is because they can't. Sounds like a lot of hearsay, maybe you should get off welfare and get a job therefore you won't have so much useless time on your hands.

United Van Lines - Warning!! Don't use United Movers!!!

1.0
Details
WARNING!! DO NOT USE UNITED MOVERS! We moved from AL to FL in June. Our entire 17,000lbs. of everything we owned sat on a hot, humid truck for WEEKS before it was unloaded and then a water leak was discovered. I was refused seeing my things by Suddath in Clearwater. Everything on that truck was a perfect breeding ground for mold spores. United in St. Louis HQ encouraged me to sue them and told me I would run out of money way before they did!! Refused mold testing and every day is still a fight almost 6 months later. Tried to get me to take delivery of smelly, mold ridden bedding and clothes that had been saturated in water. Destroyed antiques. Tire tracks over photo boxes. They did not want to refund me my prepaid storage fees and threatened to charge me $160/per day after that. Trying to force delivery every chance they got. Outstanding, unpaid claims that took hours to complete. Fought to refund move. I have been on 8 on your side TV News twice! United promised to pay my full insurance claim….but want me to sign a lengthy release written by a team of lawyers. Be advised, federal law does NOT require you-the victim to sign any release. Beware of the clause- hold harmless without limitation. This means that if anyone for any reason decides to sue United in regards to my case, I would be responsible for ALL of United’s legal fees with no cap. No one with half a brain would ever agree to that! I am a widow with two minor age children. I write to the CEOs on a regular basis over last 6 months with no response. We still have not been paid and have NOTHING!! I have had to lay out my own, hard earned money for the basics. United claims they aren’t responsible to refund my out of pocket expenses??? Why is it my responsibility?? I still don’t have coats, pants, furniture-all we had with us was summer clothes we packed in our vehicle. United does not have trucks inspected. BEWARE. Once I gave my money to United Armstrong Relocation in Huntsville, AL no one cared about our stuff. BEWARE. I was told my items would be stored in A/C. It is all really climate control-which means up to 90plus degrees!! I won’t stop until I get what we are due. I am not asking for anything but money I paid out to be refunded and to get my insurance money to start replacing our entire household that we lost. Zero compassion. Worst company ever! We are being treated like the criminal for damage that we did not cause. My husband and my boys’ dad had passed away prior to our move and we have many sentimental items that were on that truck that we have requested to get and attempt to clean and restore on our own-only if I sign that release! I am getting ready to go back on TV and will continue to expose United and give them the bad press they so deserve. I know I am not alone with my complaint. I will continue to share ways to fight back. Spread the word, if moving-don’t choose United!!! Christmas has been cancelled this year! Who wants to tell my kids?

Don't Use United Van Lines

1.0
Details
I just moved from Florida to New York and decided to use a moving company. I decide using a big name moving company would be the most reliable. IT WAS NOT. I chose to have my boxes and furniture placed in a crate of its own at the recommendation of the company to ensure all items would arrive at the same time. Once the crate was taken from Jacksonville, it was stored in storage until it was pick up time. On the day it was suppose to arrive to New York, I got a call letting me know that the crate had never been picked up from the Jacksonville storage facility. They had guaranteed delivery that day and they never picked it up. From my coordinator an apology and I was told this has never happened before. Once I waited another week, a moving truck arrived. My boxes and furniture were taken out of my crate (the crate I paid extra for so that my things would not be removed) and the truck arrived to my new apartment. The movers came up first to warn me that all of my things had been destroyed and he did not know how this happened. So, one by one, my squished boxes and damaged furniture was brought into my apartment. The movers were so sorry and embarrassed and didn't even know what to say. Fragile boxes looked as though they had been punt kicked into the moving truck. Once they left, I basically had a pile of ruined boxes and broken furniture. I was advised not to pay for even more insurance because I packed my boxes myself and would not be covered anyway. I ended up getting a check for $ 117.00 This whole process was a complete joke and so disappointing. The company never tried to do right by what had been done to my things. Never use United Van Lines when moving your things if you want them to arrive in one piece.

United Van Lines in Virginia Beach, Virginia - Horrific service

1.0
Details
Consumer's Original Complaint : Price for service was changed 4 times. By the time it as changed the last time, I had no choice but to stay with Brooks Transfer and Storage/United. Poor customer service. Order number is U0598-00160-4. I moved from Williamsburg to Rocklin to help my daughter and grandson, I am a widow for two years. I packed furniture and drove myself in a Penske truck (good company, by the way) but wanted a van for my Jeep as it is low-mileage and a 2012 and I did not want to have to replace it. I wanted a company with a good reputation and BBB rates Brooks A+. I called Brooks about the end of June. I was given a price of $1800 for a car carrier. A few days later I was called back and told that the Jeep was "oversized" and it would be $400 more. About a week later, I as called back and told that in-van would cost $400 more. They were to pick up the car on July 30; I was leaving July 31. A couple of days before the pick-up, I was called and told that it would be $400 hundred more - a "busy time of year premium" charge(total was $3,322.26). I was stuck - I had no time to find anyone else as I was closing on the sale of my home, renting a truck and packing my house - all by myself. I left and arrived in CA on August 5. I had no word from Brooks. According to my contract with Brooks/United, the latest delivery date would be August 19. On August 15, I called Brooks and was told that my Jeep as still in Va. Beach in the warehouse as it as "difficult" to find a van for "in-van" service. Brooks suggested that I change to car carrier - a service I had not wanted and the reason I went with Brooks who told me I could have in-van. I needed my car, I was in CA and I would have a hard time finding a new company so I said okay. I said that I thought the price should be reduced for failure to keep to the contract and for no notification (I had contacted them; they never contacted me). After contacting United customer service who told me Brooks could change the price after Brooks told me it had to be corporate customer service who changed prices, I was told I could pay $400 less (only fair since I as now not getting in-van service) and could get 15% reduction ($2730.45). I had been told at the very beginning in June that I would get that anyway, but I was only given 8% (guess I did not notice this with all the price increases an everything else I had going on). I was told that I would be notified 24 hours in advance of the car's arrival. I was also told that United would get me a rental car to help as my having to use my daughter's car and her hours being such that she could not take me to get a car was proving very difficult. I never got a car or even heard from a rental car agency. Today, August 26, I happened to be in the house when I got a call saying that my car would arrive in 15 minutes (no prior notification). It did. It was filthy - which was why I wanted the in-van service. Failure to keep a contract, offering a service they really could not give, no notification when the contract date was not going to be met, and price gouging are only a few of the bad business practices I have encountered with Brooks/United. I was willing to pay more for top service and care of my car: I got neither. Consumer's Desired Resolution: I believe that United owes me a refund for way-beneath poor service they have provided me, offering me a service that they could not give (in-van), making me promises (like the rental car and the notification of the car's arrival) and not keeping them, and raising the price multiple times (especially at the end when I had to go with them because of time). Had I not called on the 15th, my car could have still been sitting in VA Beach. The car was picked up in Virginia one day before I left and I arrived 21 days before my car. This time has been very difficult because I had no vehicle. Life has been hard enough - I didn't need this. Please publicize this - I don't want this to happen to anyone else. And I do hope you lower Brooks' rating, United did nothing – not even an apology. I hope that no one will use United as I can see I am not the only person who has had these experiences

United Van Lines in Dallas, Texas - Criminal Violation of Contract - Failure to deliver on time or pay for damaged Items

5.0
Details
Warning - don't believe your contract. A) will deliver outside guaranteed window b) despite "full replacement guarantee" - on my 60 items destroyed - are offering me about $.10 on the dollar. File a complaint with the US Department of Transportation - easy to do online! I have been in contact with numerous layers of mangement - Including the President and COO office and failure to deliver or deliberate destruction of property does not seem to concern them. They loaded my goods on a truck - without permission, unloaded them - and only heavens know where there were stored - out in a parking lot for all I can tell. Then reloaded a FRACTION of my goods with all fragile Items on the BOTTOM. Took me calling the President of Unicorp to get the second shipment....and at that over 60 items destroyed - to which no they refuse to compensate me fairly for

United Van Lines Claims and Mgt Suck

United moved us (military move) from New Orleans to Castle Rock, CO. The pakcers did not properly mark boxes. The loaders forgot boxes/wrapping for TVs, mattresses, and other items. The loaders did NOT secure the load; it toppled enrout. Our costs are over $10,000 in damages. This all happened in May 2012. It is now February 2013, and we STILL do not have resolution. ALL EFFORTS TO CONTACT UNITED (UNIGROUP) MANAGEMENT IS MET WITH "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK TO THEM". They force us to talk to claims...but they are the problem. We dont know what to do next. I am a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army. I am NOT new to moving or claims. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with when it comes to moving. They completely SUCK...from packers, loaders, claims, and upper management. THEY HIDE.

I moved with these guys (United) last year. They shoved fragile stuff into boxes with no packing.

We found boxes full of basically ground glass that used to be dishes. They stuck an aquarium in a box with no packing. The driver thought he was an oracle and could not stop pontificating. He delivered some of our stuff to the wrong people.

They had the heart to try to find out who it belonged to. The claims unit is worthless. It took them a year to ultimately deny our claim indicating the problems were our fault (they packed everything).

This was our fourth and worst professional move. :sigh

You got that right! They damaged thousands of dollars worth of our stuff and were like kids in a candy store, stealing from us.

We moved 4 years ago, and we're STILL discovering things missing. Our furniture was scratched, finials were missing from the hutch and headboard, they busted my console stereo cabinet that has matching speakers, then depreciated it down to nothing when it came time to reimburse for damages...the list goes on & on.

They wrapped boxes of screws in tissue paper to "protect" them, but didn't wrap delicate glass yard ornaments and just shoved them into boxes, breaking them. They're a bunch of thieving ***

I agree. We had a similar problem.

Lots of my mother's things "mysteriously disappeared". It took us over a year to resolve the claim. Hang in there, however, we did eventually get the claim resolved, but it took many many hours of work, complaints, letters to various government officials, and letter to the United CEO, COO and Board of Directors. We finally received resolution for the claim.

We were told by the claims adjuster that he "didn't have authority" to pay any claims. The fine print on your moving contract says that you basically give up your right to sue the pants off them and have to go to arbitration. The company using arbitration automatically to ensure that their costs are contained. I think this is shameful business practice and should be stopped.

Write your congressman! We've written dozens of letters to congressmen complaining about these predatory practices.
